Power tool and drill skills
This practical module introduces students to the safe and correct use of common power tools used throughout the construction and woodworking industries. Students will gain hands-on experience using drills, impact drivers, sanders and other workshop tools while learning about tool safety, maintenance and proper operating techniques.
The programme focuses on essential practical skills including drilling, screw fixing, measuring, pilot hole preparation and assembling timber and construction materials. Students will also learn how to select the correct drill bits, screws and fixings for different applications while developing confidence using professional equipment in a supervised workshop environment.
Through a series of practical tasks and projects, students will improve coordination, accuracy and problem-solving skills while gaining valuable experience with tools commonly used across carpentry, drylining, construction and general DIY projects.
